This video provides an overview of EPA’s Cyanobacteria Monitoring Collaborative which was launched in EPA Region 1, in 2013. The video shows the unique approach that involves federal and state environmental partners, academia and the public working together to address the devastating impacts of algal blooms in our waterways. There are three main components to the collaborative effort. First, a crowdsourcing app called bloomWatch, next the availability of CyanoScope kits for enhanced analysis, and finally the development of cyano-monitoring plans. Learning about the cyanobacteria monitoring collaborative, viewers can bring new ideas and tools to communities to help address this important environmental challenge.
